Subscription Box Unboxing - CallaLife Box

What is it:
CallaLife Box is a monthly lifestyle subscription box.  Their mission is to provide their customers with an array of useful products to make the month a little more beautiful.

The items will be quite different from month to month - it could be a bag of calming tea, some eye serum to rid you of tired eyes, a small fitness device to get you working on your health goals or a super cute soap dish so you have something pretty to look at while washing your hands.

What is included:
5-8 carefully selected items each month, most products are sourced from local Canadian artisans.  The items will be quite different from month to month so you'll always have some nice gifts to look forward to. The founder Whitney does her best to search out products that she feels confident using and that they do not contain many or any harmful chemicals.

How much is it:
Only $38+$10 S/H  *At this time CallaLife only ships within CANADA*

What makes it different:
Unlike some other subscription box companies out there that get free product to include - CallaLife Box helps support small Canadian businesses by purchasing their products and helping them grow.  A portion of each box sold will be donated to a charitable cause.

My first box was the May 2017 CallLife box

Items included in this box were:

Purple Frog Patches - Outdoor Patch: Perfect for the summer season, smell great and keep nasty bugs away!

YYCBeeswax: DIY Beeswax Birthday Candle Kit: Fun and simple to make!

Ingenium Naturals: Purité All Natural Make-up remover will have your skin feeling fresh and clean
|

Ingenium Naturals - Purifying Seaweed All Natural Soap: Thanks to its organic seaweed extracts, natural olive and coconut oils, this product contains potent powers harnessed to renew the look and feel of skin.

Wild Prairie Botanicals - Blemish Balm:- This blemish stick can be used on cold sores, pimples, in-grown hairs and scars. A gentle mix of beeswax and organic olive oil to care for problem spots in a natural and soothing way.

Reloved Life - #winetime wine glass: perfect year round for your favorite beverage.

I was very excited to receive my box and am very impressed with the items included.  I am very happy that Whitney puts so much effort into finding different and interesting items to include. I am also thrilled that a portion of the sales go to a worthy Canadian charity.

Would I recommend the Callalife Box subscription:
Yes, definitely!  I am looking forward to seeing what comes in next month's box!

My Rating on initial unboxing: 5 out of 5 (I will provide a review on the actual products at a later date)

Callalife has generously provided two coupon codes to my readers/followers:
LLA50: 10% off your first CallaLife Box
LOVINGLIFE: a FREE GIFT with purchase of 3 or 6 month subscription.

First Impression - Ancestry DNA vs MyHeritage DNA Kits

As an only child, I've always been curious about my genetic genealogy and ethnicity, especially on my mother's side of the family.  I am very lucky as my father had meticulously researched the genealogy for his side of the family (before the internet no less) and because of his efforts, I can trace our roots back to Alsace, Germany. Unfortunately family on my mother's side never really discussed their ethnicity or genealogy and I just assumed that they were either Ukrainian or Romanian.  Sadly there are no longer any living relatives on my mother's side that I can ask, so I decided to do the next best thing and do one of those fancy DNA tests they advertise.  But which one? As with any industry that has become popular, especially quickly, there are the front runner companies you always hear about - Ancestry, 23andMe and another I recently came across MyHeritage. Pricewise, MyHeritage is the cheapest at $99, Ancestry is next at $129 and then 23andMe at $249 (prices q...

A Further Update on Ancestry DNA vs MyHeritage DNA Kits

I posted an update on my Ancestry DNA vs MyHeritage DNA kits on May 28th, however, feel I need to post another update as an issue has come up with the MyHeritage kit. My test was sent back to MyHeritage on May 8th, and since I had not heard from them that they received my test, I sent a message to MyHeritage on May 23rd to get an update as to the status of my test.  This was the test that was sent from Canada to Texas so it should have been received within a week (give or take a day) - the test sent from Canada to Ireland arrived within a week. Sadly I never received any reply, however, noticed when I logged into the MyHeritage website on May 26th, my test had been marked as received on May 25th.  I found this very interesting. Fast forward to a few days ago to when I received an email from Paypal indicating that a refund had been completed by MyHeritage on June 5th.  What the heck??? Sure enough, I logged into the MyHeritage website and all signs of my DNA test ...
